This event has been awarded Best Magic Show 2013 and 2015 by the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Illusions starring Jan Rouven provides plenty of high energy and audience interaction that has the crowd eating from his hand. Several members of the crowd are asked to assist in the illusions that Rouven has perfected. Jan Rouven is masterful with the crowd during his many illusions. One segment has Rouven asking a volunteer from the audience to help with his Hand Stab illusion. Rouven then crushes several paper bags with his hand and the volunteer helps him decide which bag does not contain the lethal knife that will split his hand with its sharp edge. In another portion of the show Rouven lays on the Bed of Death which is a platform with several knives hanging above his body. Each dangling knife is held by a string in which the volunteer from the audience is instructed to start to pull. The shear suspense in the crowd is heard by the ooohs and aaahs as each knife drops from above missing Rouven’s body. Escaping death has become routine for Rouven who works the stage effortlessly as he moves from illusion to illusion.
Rouven relies on other illusions too and has been sucked into a jet turbine engine defying the rotors from shredding his body as well as his chained body has a number of circular saws moving quickly through Rouven’s body. The Drill of Death pleases the crowds when a large mining drill is intended to put a hole into his body’s midsection. Another incredible illusion is the stunning Water Tank routine that involves being handcuffed and chained in a clear water tank. As he works his magic, Rouven frees himself and rises to the top of the tank. The event changes regularly with new illusions and a mixture of his proven illusions of the past.
An interesting side note to the show is that Rouven has been a longtime friend of Siegfried of the great magic duo Siegfried and Roy. Siegfried has allowed exclusive rights to Rouven to use some of the magician’s props during his own Las Vegas event.
Rouven has incorporated plenty of choreography into his event that adds value to the show. The props used for the illusions are ascetically pleasing and the show is complete with gorgeous assistants gracing the stage in flamboyant costumes that set his show apart from the traditional Las Vegas showgirls prancing on the stage. Rouven has five dancers appear on stage throughout the show and they move in a synchronized motion that brings life to the stage. Along with his illusions and sleight of hand magic, Rouven relies on his German accent to bring his humor to life on the stage.
The Tropicana Theater has plenty of great seats to view all the mystical action on stage. The sound system blasts out electronic dance music and more during the show. The multimedia effects are one-of-a-kind and add to illusions while they are being played out.
Illusions starring Jan Rouven is an ideal family event when people are looking for quality entertainment at a quality price. Rouven has not disappointed many people in the audience and we feel that his show is a wonderful experience.
